Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has praised defender Dan Burn for his leadership and versatility amid more injury trouble.
The 31-year-old has made 35 appearances in all competitions in multiple positions this season and has become known as a very reliable option for Howe.
Burn has been struck down with injury this season, but has made a comeback and his versatility is vital for the squad in the run in to the end of the season.
His recent performances have drawn praise from fans and Howe.
In this mornings pre-match press conference, Eddie Howe was asked about Burn's contribution to the squad and his performance in the 1-1 draw against Everton on Tuesday.
"I liked a lot about his performance against Everton. Howe said.
"Aerially he's a big presence but he did well against two tough opponents at Everton.
"Dan's leadership is second to none and when he comes inside he can help the team vocally."
Due to major ACL injuries to Newcastle defenders Jamaal Lascelles and Sven Botman, Burn has moved positions to play as the left-sided centre-back partnering Fabian Schar.
Burn's versatility may be a money saver for Howe should troubles with Financial Fair Play persist.
On Burn's versatility, Howe said: "It's always a balance really. You're looking at which player can fill which position.
"I always say 'the more versatile a player, the more valuable they are.
"Players like Dan, that can play different positions are vital to us."
