Newcastle United are said to be one of many clubs looking to sign Argentine World Cup winner Nahuel Molina this summer.

Kieran Trippier's future at Newcastle is uncertain. The former England right-back has been trying to get a move away from Tyneside for a while now after problems at home, but a recent run in the team which saw the 34-year-old roll back the years, has given Newcastle ammo to try and keep him around beyond the summer.

Trippier is massively influential at the club, and his form in the latter stages of the season show that he's still got what it takes to play at the top level.

However, he isn't getting any younger, and he can't go on forever, so a succession plan is needed. Of course, Newcastle have Tino Livramento, but beyond him, the options are limited, with just Emil Krafth as his back-up.

Newcastle United want Nahuel Molina from Atletico Madrid

A right-back may not be a top priority this summer, but when a World Cup winner comes on the market for under £30 million, you'd be a fool not to at least look into it.

Argentinian Nahuel Molina is tipped to leave Atletico Madrid this summer, and Caught Offside believe Newcastle have thrown their hat in the ring alongside Liverpool, Inter Milan, Roma and Juventus.

Having already had a spell in Serie A with Udinese, the Italian clubs are well aware of the 27-year-old's quality and are keen to take him back to Italy, but he could be tempted with a move to the Premier League.

Newcastle aren't in desperate need of a right-back when compared to other positions

Caught Offside's report claims that Molina is looking to move to a club with a competitive project and a strong chance of winning trophies. That sounds like Newcastle to us ... unfortunately, it also sounds like the other teams we mentioned.

Again, we suspect this move hinges on what Kieran Trippier decides to do beyond this season, as right-back isn't anywhere near a top priority this summer.

Molina would be a good addition to the squad, though, especially with his big game experience and our upcoming Champions League campaign.
