Eddie Howe names unchanged side to take on Nottingham Forest at St James' Park
Newcastle United host Nottingham Forest at St James' Park for a Premier League clash in the light breeze brought about by Storm Amy. Kick-off is at 2 pm with the game live on Sky Sports.
The two sides come into this game off the back of differing fortunes in Europe in midweek with Newcastle registering their biggest ever away win in the Champions League, beating Union Saint-Gilloise 4-0 in Belgium, while Forest faltered at home against FC Midtjylland.
Pressure is already mounting on Ange Postecoglou at Forest despite only having been in the job for three weeks, so it's a fantastic time for Newcastle to get some Premier League points on the board.
Eddie Howe has gone strong with his lineup, and there's a place in the starting XI for his summer acquisition from Nottingham Forest, Anthony Elanga.
Newcastle are unchanged from Wednesday's huge win
As expected, Eddie Howe has resisted the urge to tinker with the winning side from Wednesday and has named the same starting XI.
It gives Elanga a chance to show his old side what they're missing, and hopefully show his new side why they paid £55 million for him in the summer. There's also a place on the bench for another former Forest man in Jamaal Lascelles.
There's no sign of Lewis Hall in the squad again, fresh from comments from Howe on Friday about managing his recovery. Hopefully, this is a case of doing that rather than any form of regression.
Elliot Anderson and Chris Wood return to St James' Park
There's no place in the squad for Jacob Ramsey either after Keith Downie had reported that he'd return to the bench this weekend, but we're not too upset about that. It means he's being given the time to fully recover.
Unsurprisingly, there's a place in Ange Postecoglou's starting lineup for former Magpie Elliot Anderson, stirring up plenty of mixed emotions for the St James' Park crowd. Also making a return to the holy land is Chris Wood, who always seems to put in a good shift against us.
Given how well this same Newcastle XI played on Wednesday, we're expecting them to build on that today and grab us a much-needed Premier League win.
