Newcastle United take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux in the Premier League this afternoon with a 2 pm kick-off, live on Sky Sports.

The Magpies can go to fifth place in the Premier League with a win today, which shows just how tight the league is this season, given how we've been languishing in the lower half of the table all season.

Eddie Howe's men have had a few days to rest for the first time this year, albeit a short rest. It still means that fatigue shouldn't be as much of an issue today as it has been.

That has been reflected in his player selection for today's game with the recent top performers available and ready to go.

Eddie Howe goes strong against Wolves

Unsurprisingly, Nick Pope starts between the sticks with one change to the back four. Lewis Miley makes way for Kieran Trippier. Malick Thiaw, Sven Botman and Lewis Hall make up the rest of the back four.

Eddie Howe has gone with his preferred midfield trio of Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali and Joelinton.

Up top we've got it very wrong with our prediction as Harvey Barnes has been given the nod to start ahead of Anthony Elanga. Yoane Wissa has to make do with a place on the bench as Nick Woltemade starts with Anthony Gordon on the left.

No Jorgen Strand Larsen for Wolves

The bench isn't looking overly strong with Sean Neave and Leo Shahar once again called upon to make up the numbers, but at least we're not going with two goalkeepers.

Wolves have former Toon target Jorgen Strand Larsen on the bench with Hwang Hee-chan preferred to the Norwegian.

It's a game we absolutely should be winning today, but again, it's our away form that makes you question everything.
