Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has completely shut down any links of him replacing Gareth Southgate as England manager.

Howe was considered to be one of the favourites for the role alongside the likes of Lee Carsley and Graham Potter.

During the Magpies training camp in Germany earlier this month he described his commitment to Newcastle as "unwavering".

Now, the Toon boss has once again backed himself to succeed at the club.

Eddie Howe is "fully committed" to Newcastle

Howe sat down with the press in Japan ahead of their pre-season games against Urawa Reds and Yokohama F Marinos later this week.

He was quizzed about an approach from England and his future at Newcastle.

“I have had no contact whatsoever from anybody – I am fully committed to Newcastle," Howe said.

"There is nothing to talk about, I do not need to address the players.

"They know how by how I act and I hope they can see how I am on a daily basis to see how committed I am to the club, too.”

Howe rules himself out of the running for the England job

It would've been a hard goodbye for Howe if he had left for England.

Fans would surely back him to succeed but it would certainly have been bittersweet. The England managerial job still remains vacant for anyone to swoop in and take a punt.

Alongside Potter and Carsley, names such as Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino have also been mentioned.

Howe's main focus is to now work on the squad ahead of the season with the hope of bringing in some fresh faces before the start of the new campaign.
