Southampton host Newcastle United at St Mary's today in a 3pm non-televised kick-off in the Premier League.

Eddie Howe will be desperate to get three points on the board after being humiliated on home turf by Bournemouth last weekend.

Fatigue has been blamed for last week's performance so after a week since the last match and a few days off to relax, the lads should be raring to go today.

Howe has made just one change from the team that failed to perform last week, giving most of the lads a chance to redeem themselves.

Not quite!

Eddie Howe has resisted the urge to make big changes

We expected Nick Pope to return to the starting lineup, but Eddie Howe stuck with Martin Dubravka who has done an excellent job filling in for Pope while he's been injured.

Fabian Schar coming in for Sven Botman is the only change Howe has made from the side that was beaten by Bournemouth.

It's a strong side and one that should have no problem defeating Southampton if they play to their proper levels.

Adam Armstrong starts against Newcastle this afternoon

Former Magpie Adam Armstrong starts for Southampton along with Mateus Fernandes who recently scored against Man United.

On paper, there's very little for Newcastle to worry about today, but again, it all comes down to the performance.

As long as the last week was enough for the players to be fully recharged and ready to go, there shouldn't be an issue today.
