Newcastle United made it three 0-0 draws on the road on the bounce on Sunday after failing to register any sort of attacking threat at Bournemouth.

Watching the Magpies play this season has been painful. Watching the team work gloriously from the back through the middle, and then forgetting what the game is all about once they get into the final third.

It's not hyperbole to say that if Newcastle still had Alexander Isak, we'd have won every game this season.

However, what we really mean by that is that we knew how to play to his strengths, how to get him into the game and how to create chances for him and how his movement could lead to chances for other players.

Newcastle need time to adapt to their new forward line

Eddie Howe says Newcastle are 'evolving'

Newcastle's forward line has changed completely since the summer, and Nick Woltemade is coming into a new league, which he needs to get used to, while the player we brought in to hit the ground running picked up an injury before making his debut. Newcastle are in a transition period, and Eddie Howe made sure everyone was aware of that when speaking to the media after the game on Sunday (via VAVEL).

"It's not good. You want to create chances, clear-cut chances. It didn't feel that in our performance. We are going through one of those phases where it's hard to score away from home.”

"We're evolving and changing as an attacking force. Our ability to defend has been at a high level, and we will score goals."

When things click, Newcastle will rocket up the league

Even when Yoane Wissa returns to action, there will be another period of adjustment as the players around him get used to his movement and he gets used to theirs.

To add a positive spin to things, other than against Liverpool and Barcelona, Newcastle aren't losing games in this period.

When things start to click, we'll see the Magpies rapidly rise in the Premier League, and we should also see some progression in the cups. Of course, we have to find a way to score on Wednesday against Bradford, or just hope that they don't manage to, and we'll take them to penalties. Why am I nervous about that game?
