Anthony Gordon did not come out for the second half in the 4-4 draw between Newcastle United and Luton Town.

It was queried as to whether this was a tactical move by Eddie Howe in order to get Callum Wilson into the game or whether there was something more ... well, Newcastle about the whole thing.

Unfortunately, it was the latter as Newcastle's bad luck with injuries continues after Anthony Gordon was spotted leaving the ground on crutches.

Eddie Howe confirmed the bad news after the game

After the game Eddie Howe confirmed that Gordon had picked up a knock with Lee Ryder providing extra detail via X.

Eddie Howe saying that Anthony Gordon has twisted his ankle has rightly stirred up a pretty bleak reaction from the Toon Army on social media.

Some fans already saying they're bracing for the news that Gordon's season is over, which, let's be honest, isn't beyond the realms of possibility with our luck this season.

The revolving door of Newacstle's treatment room continues to spin

It's actually pretty typical that Harvey Barnes comes back from injury and then we lose the other player who plays in the same position.

Much like how Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson have been taking it in turns to switch between the starting XI and the treatment room, so too now will our left-sided attackers.

Fingers crossed it's not as bad as we're all thinking, but it's understandable why everyone has just leapt to the worst-case scenario.
