Eddie Howe hopes to hand Newcastle United debut to new signing in his home country tomorrow
Eddie Howe has spoken to the media in South Korea ahead of tomorrow's game against the K-League All Stars.
Newcastle are back in pre-season action on Wednesday with a 12:00pm kick-off UK time with the Magpies hoping to rack up their first win of pre-season in front of fans.
Having just signed Park Seung-soo from Suwon Bluewings, the 'Korean Mbappe' finds himself back in Suwon with a new team.
While the youngster has been bought to go into the academy, the club recognised the PR opportunity of having a Korean player in the squad while out in Asia, and Park flew out to meet up with the first team.
Eddie Howe is contemplating handing Park Seung-soo his debut tomorrow
Now Eddie Howe has told the media in Korea (via NUFC's official site) that he will endeavour to give Park Seung-soo minutes tomorrow.
"I think it's slightly unclear what's going to happen short term with him - we're going to have to make an assessment on where we see him fitting in the best currently.
"We've had only a very short term impression, one or two training sessions. It's been very positive so far - he seems like a very good person, fundamentally, and it's all new experiences for him but I sure he'll do very, very well. We're very keen to look at this is a future market for us, signing a similar profile of player, so this is hopefully the start.
"I'll do everything I can to try to get him on the pitch (on Wednesday) because I think that'll be important for him and of course everyone that wants to see him play. I'll certainly do my best. We've got lots of information we'll be giving him but I think it'll just be a case of go out and play his normal game and that will be good enough."
Park Seung-soo's appearance could help sell plenty of shirts in Korea
Pre-season friendlies are the ideal time for Eddie Howe to get a closer look at the up-and-coming talent from the academy, and while it's probably too early to make any assessment on Park Seung-soo, the PR opportunity is far too good to pass up.
With Park being hailed as the next big thing to come out of Korea, the shirt sales from his appearance alone over there could be a huge financial benefit to the club.
Who knows, he might be like Trevan Sanusi last year and we'll all be begging for him to have minutes in the first team after impressive pre-season outings, only for us to hardly see him again.
