On Thursday Newcastle United stoked the fires around the St James' Park conversation after revealing that a presentation was given to the Fan Advisory Board on the project at the last meeting.

The key takeaway from what Chief Operating Officer Brad Miller told the FAB was that the next big update won't be until next year.

There are still a lot of things to consider and reading between the lines of what Miller said as reported on the Newcastle United website, it seems very much like a stadium move is still on the table.

That could potentially upset a lot of supporters who would prefer to remain at St James' Park.

Could Newcastle build a new stadium adjacent to St James' Park?

Eddie Howe admitted he would be open to a stadium move

While facing the media for his pre-match press conference on Friday (via The Chronicle), Eddie Howe was asked his thoughts on what the club should do with regards to the stadium and the Newcastle boss tried his best to avoid giving a straight answer.

"Well, I think it's a difficult one for someone like myself when people want to know my opinion - but I'm not faced with all the facts. I'm not sort of hearing the pros and cons behind all the decisions.

"I think my natural instinct is always to stay at St James' Park. It's an incredible place to play football. It's our home. So to sort of think about moving somewhere else feels a little bit of a betrayal to somewhere that's served us so well. But we are well aware that as a football club, we need to increase our revenue, so people with more brain cells [than me] will make the decision for the benefit of the long term future of the football club - and that's always the most important thing. So I could be swayed, but I feel my natural instinct is to want to stay."

Fingers crossed we get a definitive update in early 2025

There are clear pros and cons to expansion and relocation which is why the whole process is taking so long.

The club has to be 100% certain they are making the right call as either option is going to be very costly for the PIF and they don't want to look back a couple of years down the line and feel like they made the wrong call.

Hopefully we don't have to wait too long into 2025 for a more definitive update.
