Newcastle United picked up a convincing win against Nottingham Forest on Sunday afternoon.

If anything, the 2-0 scoreline flattered the visitors, who have Matz Sels to thank for keeping the score so low.

Bruno Guimaraes and Nick Woltemade provided the goals for the Magpies as they picked up their second Premier League win of the season.

However, before kick-off, fans were concerned when they saw the team sheet and noticed that Lewis Hall's name was absent once again.

Lewis Hall faces another lengthy layoff

Lewis Hall isn't expected to make a quick recovery from his latest injury

The news broke shortly before kick-off that Hall had picked up a hamstring injury in his brief appearance against Union Saint-Gilloise on Wednesday, and this was confirmed after the game by Eddie Howe, who told reporters that he's not expecting it to be a quick turnaround for the England international.

“He felt his hamstring against Union, which was a real blow for us. We’ve been trying to manage him back. Unfortunately, he just felt something in that game.”

“We’ve had it scanned. Before we get conclusive evidence of how long he’ll be out, he needs another re-scan in about 10 days. So it’s not going to be a short-term injury. We hope it’s not going to be a long-term injury, but we sort of don’t know yet.”

Eddie Howe is left with a problem at full-back

It's devastating enough seeing Hall suffer another injury before he'd made a full recovery from the broken foot which made him miss a large chunk of last season, but the timing couldn't be worse for Eddie Howe.

He's already lost Tino Livramento for what looks to be around eight weeks, which leaves him having to play Dan Burn at left-back, which is less than ideal, and it also means having to rely on 35-year-old Kieran Trippier for every game.

Hopefully, the two young full-backs can come back quickly and strongly, and we really hope that Dan Burn can find his centre-back form to transfer to playing on the left. So far, he's struggled.
