Eddie Howe delivers injury update on Newcastle United's Brazilian duo ahead of massive game against Liverpool
Newcastle United travel to Anfield for a night-time kick-off on Saturday as TNT Sports cover the 8 pm game against Liverpool.
Anfield is never a good place to go for the Magpies, but after beating Liverpool at Wembley last season, and given Liverpool's inconsistency in this campaign, it's time to believe.
Liverpool aren't without their injury issues either, which would help Newcastle if they weren't also in the same boat.
Bruno Guimaraes travelled to Paris in midweek but was an unused substitute as it was decided he wasn't quite fit enough to play a part.
Bruno Guimaraes may not be available to face Liverpool
Ahead of Saturday's game, Eddie Howe spoke to the media, where he gave an update on Bruno Guimaraes, and it seems he is touch-and-go.
"Slightly unknown at the moment. He did really well to be with us in Paris and he was desperate to be there and support the players. We did very light training and he participated in that. He trained with us yesterday and that was more of a test so let's wait and see."
Given Newcastle's record without him in the side, combined with their inability to win at Anfield, it's hardly ideal if he's missing, but we'd definitely prefer to allow him as much time as he needs to fully recover.
Joelinton is confirmed to be out for weeks
Meanwhile, Howe also gave an update on Joelinton after he had to come off in the game against Aston Villa with a groin issue.
"He flew on to Barcelona after the game to get an injection into his groin. The specialist feels he only needs one injection so we are looking at weeks not months."
Hopefully, he can bounce back quickly as he was just finding his form again and we're going to miss him in the next few weeks.
