Paul Mitchell and Eddie Howe's working relationship hasn't got off to the best of starts at Newcastle United.

The duo have both spoken to the media since Mitchell's arrival in the summer and particularly in Howe's case, he has seemed very guarded about the former Monaco man's arrival.

Mitchell recently came out and pointed the fingers of blame everywhere but at himself for Newcastle's failings in the transfer market, rightly or wrongly.

However, after a tumultuous start, the two have finally agreed on something it seems.

Trippier set to stay at St James' Park ... for now

Paul Mitchell has backed Eddie Howe's decision to keep hold of Trippier

Newcastle World has reported that Paul Mitchell has backed Eddie Howe's decision to hold on to Kieran Trippier this summer.

Tripps has been the subject of a lot of speculation around a move to Turkey with Besiktas, Fenerbache and Eyupspor all keen to sign the former England man before Friday's transfer deadline.

Indeed, reports had circulated at one point that Trippier had agreed terms with Eyupspor, however, that was clearly not the case.

Trippier could be called back into the starting lineup for Sunday's game

Eddie Howe had made it very clear that he wanted to keep hold of Kieran Trippier and was especially reluctant to let the player he deemed as 'really valuable' leave after the English transfer window closed.

It has been heavily speculated that Trippier could be in line to start against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday over Tino Livramento who has been away with England this past week - although he never actually got on the pitch at any point.

What happens with Trippier in January is another question with the right-back still reportedly keen to leave the club.
