Newcastle United fans feel like Eddie Howe has unearthed a gem in Nick Woltemade after the start the German striker has made at the club.

With the bitter words of Bayern Munich bosses still ringing in his ears, Nick Woltemade has set out to prove all the doubters wrong and has continued the stunning goal-scoring form he showed at the Under-21 European Championships in the summer into the new season for an entirely new club.

The start he's made, scoring four goals in five games, including three goals in three appearances at St James' Park, is beyond anyone's realistic expectations.

We're sure neither he nor Eddie Howe could foresee just how easily he'd adapt to his new team, and it hasn't just been a fluke either.

Danny Murphy was very impressed with Nick Woltemade

Woltemade makes football look easy at times, and Danny Murphy couldn't praise him enough on Match Of The Day on Sunday, highlighting how he didn't lose the ball once during the game.

"Today, I don't think he gave one ball away, which for a striker is incredible. The more the game went on in the second half, when Newcastle were pushing, the better he got.

"It's a great example of a young player when you play as a striker to not only keep your position but make sure you have pride in keeping the ball."

Nick Woltemade's potential is scary

Murphy analysed Woltemade's contributions to the team, saying how he always makes the right decision on whether to play a first-time pass or hold on to the ball.

Even though Woltemade's goals have been hugely important, it's what he does with the ball that has impressed fans and indeed pundits alike. HIs ability to beat his man, to hold off defenders and shield the ball and to find a teammate is absolutely exquisite.

Considering he's not even the finished article yet, Nick Woltemade has the potential to be a very scary striker. And he's OURS!
