England kicked off their World Cup qualification bid under Thomas Tuchel with a 2-0 win over Albania at Wembley on Friday night.
Dan Burn was the only Newcastle United player to start the game, capping off an unbelievable week for the Toon hero after scoring in the game that saw his boyhood club lift a domestic trophy for the first time in 70 years.
Prior to kick-off ITV showed an interview with Thomas Tuchel where he mentioned that Dan Burn had been vocal in training and it felt like it was his 50th camp, not his first.
You'd have thought the same on the pitch too as the big man looked comfortable right from the kick-off.
Thomas Tuchel had clearly been paying attention to Newcastle on Sunday as the plan from corners was to ping it to the big man, and it almost paid off in the same way as it did for Newcastle.
Rising like a salmon, Burn got his head to the ball after a deep-hit corner and powered it off the bar which then bounced onto the back of the goalkeeper's hand and out for another corner.
Fellow debutant Myles Lewis-Skelly opened the scoring for England and it would have been sheer poetry if Dan Burn had doubled the lead, but that ultimately fell to Harry Kane in the second half.
Speaking after the game, Dan Burn was honest enough to say that he felt his levels dropped in the second half while ruing his missed chance.
"It's been a dream come true. Obviously the Newcastle cup final and then coming here and getting an opportunity to be with the lads here and make my debut at Wembley.
"I should have scored which I'm disappointed at, but I shouldn't be too greedy because I've had a decent week.
"I thought I played well. Second half I tailed off a little bit so I'm a bit disappointed in that, but I couldn't ask for a lot more, really."
