After the bad faith negotiations last summer between Newcastle United and Crystal Palace over England defender Marc Guehi, Newcastle fans would prefer the Magpies steer clear of dealing with the club this summer.
However, the fact is, Crystal Palace have players who are of interest to Newcastle and if they want to make a move then talks will have to be opened up again.
Fortunately, it seems that this time around, Palace are more likely to actually sell rather than mess us about for weeks on end.
Indeed, The Daily Mail are reporting that Palace are willing to sell Marc Guehi and midfielder Eberechi Eze this summer so that coach Oliver Glasner can fund a squad rebuild.
Marc Guehi's name has been constantly linked to Newcastle, and with the transfer window growing ever nearer, the links are growing stronger again.
Eberechi Eze was a name bandied about last summer, but we're not sure there was any real interest from Newcastle given their PSR situation, but now that he has been made available, Newcastle may look to pounce.
With Palace willing to sell, a deal should be easier to do than it was previously, and with Guehi entering the last year of his contract, it puts Newcastle in a much stronger position.
Eze has been outstanding for Crystal Palace and there will be plenty of interest in the England winger, but Newcastle already have Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes down the left, and a pretty stacked midfield, so we're not quite sure where he'd fit in at the Toon.
Tottenham and Manchester United are looking at activating Eze's £60 million release clause but we don't expect Newcastle will be drawn in.
However, we now definitely expect the Magpies to be back in for Marc Guehi this summer. If Palace play nicely and the price is right, then we back it, but at the first sign of Steve Parish shenanigans, we absolutely should pull the plug and walk away.
