Will this January transfer window be the one in which Newcastle United finally offload Miguel Almiron? Journalist Craig Hope believes so.
Newcastle tried to move Miggy on last January but a move to Saudi Arabia collapsed. Then in the summer MLS side Charlotte FC tried to take the Paraguayan back to the United States but Newcastle pulled the plug as the finances weren't adding up.
It seems that Newcastle want to have their cake and eat it too (which, you know, is what you do with cake ... I hate that expression).
The Magpies want to offload their one-time record signing who joined for £21 million from Atlanta United in 2019, but it feels as if they're not being honest with themselves over his value.
Newcastle keep rebuffing offers as they seem to believe they'll be able to bring in £15 million for the 30-year-old.
We're not sure how they're getting this valuation now. He's barely played this season and when he has he has been poor. Even Paraguay fans turned on him recently after a poor outing for them.
He's ticked beyond the 30 mark now too. All of this should be ringing a bell for Newcastle that they'd be lucky to get £10 million for him these days.
Indeed, journalist Craig Hope certainly believes that to be the case as he said on a recent Q&A video on YouTube that he feels the club might have to face reality if they want to move Miggy on.
“There’ll have to be a realisation with Almiron that they’ve probably missed the boat for bringing in somewhere north of £10million, but we’ll have to wait and see.
“He’s certainly one I think we could see movement on in January.”
