Craig Hope now backs Newcastle United star for World Cup call up after phenomenal season
Newcastle United are likely to have plenty of representatives on display in this summer's World Cup and injuries permitting, there will be a few Magpies in Thomas Tuchel's England side.
Tino Livramento and Anthony Gordon have been regulars in Tuchel's squads of late, but injuries make Livramento's involvement an unknown right now.
Lewis Hall has also flirted with the England team, but again, injuries have kept him out of the most recent squads.
Finally, Dan Burn was a late bloomer, making his England debut at 32, but Thomas Tuchel seems to be a big fan, and as long as he makes a solid recovery from his broken rib and punctured lung, we expect the big man to be part of the England squad in March.
Craig Hope backs Lewis Miley to make it into England's World Cup squad
Speaking on talkSPORT this morning, Craig Hope was chatting to Ally McCoist and Jeff Stelling about tonight's Carabao Cup semi-final with Manchester City, during which he dropped his support for Lewis Miley to go to the World Cup.
Lewis Miley has been outstanding this season when called upon for Newcastle United, and the 19-year-old has played several roles for Eddie Howe amid his injury crisis. As a result, Hope believes Miley could be a contender for a World Cup place.
"Lewis Miley, guys I don't know how much you've spoken about tremendous Miley on your station of late he's been filling at right back, a 19 year old midfielder he's just a good footballer you could put him in centre half you could put him in goal for the shootout against Bournemouth at the weekend he probably would have saved four penalties, you know he's tremendous. He's got an outside chance of going to the World Cup so they've got players who are in a good place they've got a stadium they've got a manager everything needs to come together tonight and I think it will."
We don't see any reason why Lewis Miley shouldn't be considered for a spot in England's World Cup squad on current form.
Newcastle United have a Herculean task ahead of them in the Carabao Cup
Meanwhile, Craig Hope pointed out Newcastle's horrendous record at the Etihad Stadium, that being that the Magpies have conceded 14 goals without reply in five games under Eddie Howe.
That means tonight, Newcastle have to go out and give themselves a cushion to take down to Manchester in three weeks' time.
It's going to be an entertaining match tonight for sure.
