Conflicting reports emerge regarding Kieran Trippier and Bayern Munich

It has emerged that Bayern Munich are keen on taking Kieran Trippier away from Newcastle United and now there are two conflicting reports on the matter.

The NUFC tag on social media is alight right now with people trying to make sense of what's happening with our star right-back.

Kieran Trippier was a massive part of the upturn in Newcastle's fortunes since arriving on Tyneside for just £12million in January 2022, but it now looks like he could be the club's first casualty of the war on FFP.

Trippier may have one foot out of the door at SJP

Despite being backed by the richest owners in world football, Newcastle have reached their spending limit under the current FFP/PSR constraints and as such are likely to need to sell, which opens the door for Trippier's move to Germany.

Newcastle fans are now weighing up the pros and cons of this happening and preparing themselves for the worst despite the fact that Pete Graves of Sky Sports has posted on X that Newcastle have no intention of letting Trippier leave.

You'd think that would be enough to calm the masses, but at the same time, journalists Florian Plettenberg and Fabrizio Romano are saying that Trippier is keen on the move and talks are underway for a permanent switch.

No fee has been mentioned as yet, but we'd like to think we'll make a profit on the sale of one of our biggest assets even given his age.

Newcastle are pretty covered for right-backs

We've already allowed Javier Manquillo to leave, but if there's one position Newcastle have plenty of cover it's at right back with Tino Livramento showing that he's already up to pace to take over and Emil Krafth in reserve. We also have Harrison Ashby who is out on loan at Swansea who could step up next season.

Trippier's form this season has dropped off massively compared to last with rumours online of an unhappy home life causing him to lose focus but if there is any truth there it could be a reason why this move appeals to him.

We'd rather not lose any of our top players, in fact in January we'd rather not lose anybody at all, but if there was one move that would make sense financially it's this one if we can make a profit on the £12million we paid. Also given that he's 33 now we've likely already got the best out of him we're ever going to get and we have Livramento ready to step in.

If he goes, it would suck, but we'd all get over it pretty quickly we reckon. That being said, we'd love to have him back here as a coach when he hangs up his boots.
