Newcastle United romped to their first Champions League away win under Eddie Howe and their biggest ever away win in the competition, beating Union Saint-Gilloise 4-0 in Brussels on Wednesday evening.

Two goals from the penalty spot from Anthony Gordon were sandwiched between a cheeky back-heel flick from Nick Woltemade and a typical Harvey Barnes finish at the end of a rapid counter-attack.

It was the second game in a week that Newcastle had scored four goals after a pretty toothless start to the campaign.

Something about last night just felt like it was going to be Newcastle's time to shine as USG played like they were terrified of Newcastle's attacking prowess.

Anthony Gordon gets all philosophical speaking to TNT Sports

Anthony Gordon laid down the law with Nick Woltemade, making sure that the German striker knew that he was the man who takes the penalties, and thankfully for him, it paid off with Gordon scoring both spot kicks, putting the ball in the same spot each time.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, Gordon spoke about how the whole team is confident, after declaring confidence isn't real. Make your mind up, kidda.

"Yeah, I'm full of confidence always. Well, I say that confidence isn't real. I think you work hard enough, and things will eventually go your way, and we are that team. I am that as an individual. So, always confident in that aspect of myself. So yeah, we're a confident bunch and never doubt us."

Newcastle's attack is going to be a force of nature

Confidence in front of goal seems to be what has been holding Newcastle back so far this season, but the lads should be buoyed by what Anthony Gordon, Anthony Elanga and Nick Woltemade were able to achieve last night in their first game starting together.

If that's them still getting to know each other, then the Premier League had better watch out because there is something dangerous coming down the line.

We've still got Yoane Wissa to add to the mix, too, and he's no stranger to scoring in the Premier League.
