Newcastle United host Tottenham Hotspur at St James' Park in the early kick-off on Saturday - Kick-off is 12:30pm live on TNT Sport.

The Magpies have had week-long rest after battling to a 1-0 win at Craven Cottage last week, and after a three-game week that saw the Magpies pick up another glut of injuries, that week off was definitely needed.

Meanwhile, Tottenham beat Nottingham Forest 3-1 on Sunday and also haven't been in action since.

Newcastle's injury problems could tip this one in Tottenham's favour, but the Soccer Chickens have a habit of falling over at St James' Park.

Chris Sutton fancies Spurs to edge it

Predicting the score for the BBC as usual is Chris Sutton who doesn't believe that this will be one of those games where Tottenham fall apart.

"What a game this will be. I was at Newcastle's 4-3 win over West Ham at the end of March and I am expecting a few goals this time too.

"I didn't see Newcastle's win at Fulham last week coming, but it was a great result and it means they are looking up the table now, with their sights set on sixth place.

"Tottenham's target is to finish fourth and they won't settle for a point here. It is going to be very close but I have got a feeling they will edge it.

"Sutton's prediction: 2-3"

Both sides are gunning for Europe

As Sutton alluded to, both teams have something to play for still with European qualification still on the minds of both managers, albeit in different competitions.

Newcastle have their eye on sixth place with just a two-point gap to close and with Manchester United still to play, now in the penultimate game of the season.

It's not going to be an easy task for Eddie Howe's men, but this fixture has a habit of throwing up surprises, so we'll see how this one unfolds on Saturday.
