Chelsea host Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge on Sunday in a Sky Televised 2pm Kick-off.

The Magpies are having a bad time in front of goal at the minute and an away game against good opposition is probably not what they wanted up next.

Paul Merson didn't give Newcastle much of a chance in this one expecting Newcastle to get hammered 3-1 by Enzo Maresca's men.

It's a big claim, but at the same time, Fulham managed it, so it's not beyond the realms of possibility.

Chris Sutton is expecting another defeat for Newcastle

Chris Sutton was a bit more forgiving with his prediction for the BBC ... although not much.

"Newcastle have scored only eight goals in their first eight league games, but I don't think they have changed their style since last season.

"It's more that they don't have the strength in depth in the strikers' department. They badly missed Alexander Isak when he was injured, because their other main frontman, Callum Wilson, has not been fit enough to feature this season.

"I am backing Newcastle to get a goal this time after two games without scoring, but everything points towards a Chelsea win at Stamford Bridge. With Cole Palmer in the team, they carry far more of a threat than the Magpies.

Sutton's prediction
: 2-1."

Sutton hit the nail on the head

So far the general consensus is a second consecutive defeat for Eddie Howe's men. We wish we could put up a strong argument against it but we've been given no reason to expect anything different.

We are getting much better at keeping the ball and moving forward, but there's just no fresh ideas in the final third.

In fact, Chris Sutton absolutely hit on the big issue at the start of his prediction - we haven't changed our style since last season and other teams have us completely figured out. They know if they stick bodies behind the ball we don't have a way through.
