In the summer transfer window, the score as it stands is Newcastle United 0-2 Chelsea, as the Blues have already beaten the Magpies to the signing of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro.

We all know how they're doing it, but do we know why they're doing it? Chelsea are black belts at gaming the system and finding ways around PSR, and while almost every other club plays by the rules, Chelsea are always finding ways to exploit loopholes and stay one step ahead of the Premier League.

The real question is, why do they need so many players? It genuinely feels like they have four players for every position on the pitch. They're still bound by the 25-man squad rule that other clubs are, there's no getting around that, so why the greed?

To any smug Chelsea fans reading this, yes, you're right. This is just jealousy because Newcastle don't seem to have the stones to game the system like this, but it's also a genuine question about why the stockpiling of players.

Chelsea are copying Newcastle's homework again

It seems the Blues aren't done signing forwards, either. Having already scooped up Liam Delap and Joao Pedro ahead of Newcastle, they've not got another Toon target in their sights.

Sky Sports are claiming that Chelsea are keen on West Ham's Mohammed Kudus, who is also being linked with a move to West Ham.

"Chelsea are still interested in Mohammed Kudus despite having agreed deals for Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens, with Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle also keen

"Kudus does not want to move to Saudi Arabia at this stage of his career"

Why can't Newcastle do deals as quickly as Chelsea seems to?

As Sky Sports have said, Chelsea have already agreed a deal for Jamie Bynoe-Gittens who plays on the flank along with already having Noni Madueke and Pedro Neto in their ranks.

We're not convinced that Mohammed Kudus was ever going to join Newcastle anyway, so we feel this will be more of a battle between Chelsea and Spurs, but it's still frustrating seeing them just scoop up players so quickly and efficiently.

Meanwhile, we still await our first meaningful first-team addition in two years.
