The transfer window slams shut on Monday at 7 pm, so there is still time for some movement either in or out at Newcastle United, although it does seem very unlikely.

One player who has been linked with a January exit from St James' Park is Danish Under-21 international Will Osula.

Osula has struggled for minutes since his move from Sheffield United, and there's a feeling that Eddie Howe doesn't fancy the 22-year-old for whatever reason.

That is despite his solid start to the campaign, where he picked up a couple of goals before he picked up an ankle injury in November that kept him out of contention for months.

Ipswich Town want Will Osula on loan for the remainder of the season

Osula is back in training now and was on the bench on Wednesday night in Paris, but there are still rumours that his time at Newcastle could be coming to an end. Although given the lack of cover up front, it's highly unlikely.

He has been linked with Eintracht Frankfurt ever since his proposed transfer deadline day move collapsed in the summer, and it's thought that Marseille also hold an interest.

Ipswich Town are the latest club to be linked with a move for Osula, with the East Anglian Daily Times suggesting the Tractor Boys may make a last-ditch attempt to sign Osula on loan for the remainder of the season.

Eddie Howe has made it clear that Osula would only be granted a temporary move if he were to depart this month, and insists that he still has a part to play at the club, so it's not beyond the realms of possibility.

Will Osula delivers something different up front for Newcastle

We still feel it is highly unlikely that the Magpies would sanction a departure of any kind with so little time left in the window to court a replacement.

For the first time this season, we have three fit and available strikers, and we need to take full advantage of that. Howe has called upon youngster Sean Neave to fill the bench several times, but he clearly doesn't feel he's ready for actual first-team action.

We expect Osula to stay and will start to pick up minutes as the season goes on. At least we hope he does, as we feel he offers us something different up top. Sometimes you just need that headless chicken energy that Osula brings.
