Callum Wilson wore the Newcastle United number 9 shirt up until the summer when he left the club upon expiration of his contract.

On his day, Wilson was one of the best goalscorers we've had in that famous shirt since Alan Shearer, but injuries prevented the former Bournemouth man from becoming a true great.

He was popular with fans and a big presence in the dressing room, and Eddie Howe absolutely loved him, and probably would have been more than happy to see him sign a contract extension.

However, Wilson clearly felt that it was time for a new challenge and left the Magpies, ultimately signing a pay-as-you-play deal with West Ham.

Things haven't gone according to plan for Callum Wilson in London

Callum Wilson is set to leave West Ham United

Less than six months later, however, Wilson is already seeking an exit from The London Stadium as West Ham have fallen into crisis.

Graham Potter didn't last long in the hot seat, and now his replacement, Nuno Espirito Santo, reportedly has one game to save his job.

According to The Athletic, Callum Wilson is ultimately rethinking his future and could be on the lookout for a new club this month with suggestions he may head to Saudi Arabia.

Callum Wilson signed a one-year deal with West Ham less than six months ago

Wilson signed a one-year deal with West Ham, but given its pay-as-you-play nature, it likely won't be a difficult one to get out of.

We thought West Ham was the perfect fit for Wilson when it was revealed that's where he was going, especially with Jarrod Bowen feeding him crosses, but he's managed just four goals this season.

West Ham have dropped off a cliff this season, however, and we don't blame him for wanting out. Here's hoping he gets a decent move.
