Newcastle United are having a bit of striker drama right now, but while the Magpies wrestle with an uncertain future of who will lead their line next season, their former number nine's future is coming into focus.

While a dark cloud looms large over St James' Park, our former £20 million striker Callum Wilson looks to be getting his immediate future sorted just a few weeks after leaving Newcastle United.

Callum Wilson was offered a contract to remain at Newcastle after his existing deal expired at the end of June, but it was an incentivised deal, assumed to be a pay-as-you-play offer, and as Wilson wasn't guaranteed any game time, the 33-year-old felt the time was right to leave.

Despite a mountain of injury problems which had seriously reduced his availability over the last couple of seasons, Wilson was adamant that he still had plenty to offer and was still capable of performing in the top flight.

Callum Wilson has 'agreed terms' with the Hammers

According to TalkSPORT, we will soon find out whether his claims are true, as they report that Wilson has agreed terms with West Ham United.

The Hammers have long been admirers of Wilson, with several reports suggesting they would make a move for him in January.

Now it looks like they will get their man for free after biding their time.

Wilson wasn't going to be short of offers after leaving Newcastle

Premier League new boys Leeds United and Burnley were also keen on Wilson, as were Championship sides Leicester City and Wrexham.

There was also talk of offers from the MLS, but West Ham just feels like the right fit for Wilson, who will replace his former podcast co-host Michail Antonio, who left the Hammers this summer.

It could be a bad season for Newcastle in terms of former strikers coming back to bite us with Wilson at West Ham and Alexander Isak at Liverpool (let's be honest here, it's happening.)
