Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali made his triumphant return to the Italy team in a 3-1 win over France last night.
The two sides met in the Nations League with France taking an early lead only for Italy to get a grip on the game and come out eventual 3-1 winners.
Sandro Tonali played his part extremely well, being hailed as 'magnificent' by boss, Luciano Spalletti, but it was Tonali's show-stopper of an assist for Federico Dimarco's equaliser that set tongue's wagging.
A sumptuous backheel over the French defence was inch perfect for Dimarco to run onto and hit beyond Mike Maignan.
Tonali took to Instagram to mark the occasion and to show some love to his teammates. We imagine it wasn't so much directed at Nicolo Fagioli who was the one who grassed him up to the Italian Football Federating resulting in his 10-month ban.
"Wearing these colors is always special, even more so with this group. Keep it up!"
Tonali is already being tipped to be the captain of the Italy side in the near future and we can absolutely see that happening after he wore the armband for AC Milan and Italy U21s.
Speaking of captains, Newcastle's new team captain Bruno Guimaraes wasted no time in showing support for his midfield partner in his usual way.
"Love you brother"
We've said it a million times before, but the togetherness in our squad is amazing, and you just know it's driven by Bruno. The man just loves everyone. We'd not be surprised to find out that he was the real-life inspiration for Ted Lasso's Dani Rojas.
