As the dust settles on a rare bad night for Newcastle United fans we can maybe look back and laugh at the social media post Borussia Dortmund shared at full time.

Last night the Magpies went down 1-0 to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League at a very soggy St James' Park. On the balance of play, Dortmund could probably count themselves lucky to have come away with three points, but truth be told, it was an unusually poor performance from Eddie Howe's men.

Anthony Gordon and Callum Wilson both missed golden opportunities to get on the scoresheet at 0-0 and 0-1, respectively and had one of their chances found its way over the line, Newcastle probably could have gone on to win.

Newcastle hit the crossbar twice in the second half

Fortunately for Dortmund, the ball seemed allergic to going in the net. Gordon and Wilson's big chances were saved by Gregor Kobel, or more accurately, the shots hit him rather than him having to move to save them.

Then there's the crossbar. Newcastle hit the bar twice in the second half. If that's not a sign that it's not your night we don't know what is.

Dortmund knew it, too as they posted a brilliant video on X at full-time thanking their best defender...

BVB's social media game has been on point this week

To be fair to Dortmund, their social media game since landing in Newcastle has been on point.

They've posted great videos of the city, praised the club for their memorial to Kath the Tea Lady, and even stopped for a cheeky Greggs to refuel.

Even this video shows a bit of class. They could have rubbed it in our faces, especially given how many hoodoos they broke last night. It was their first win in England in seven attempts, their first Champions League goal this season, their first win in the competition this season, Felix Nmecha's first goal for the club, etc.

While we're still bitter about the result, we can't help but love this clip. Let's hope the woodwork at Signal Iduna Park is less meddlesome in two weeks!
