Journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed that Newcastle United are looking into a potential deal for Wolves' towering central defender Max Kilman.
The ex-CBS reporter has marked the 26-year-old as a player to keep an eye on, saying that Kilman is now on the club's radar as Eddie Howe aims to sign a new centre-back.
Jacobs also mentioned that Spurs and Liverpool have shown interest in the London-born defender previously. Moreover, he stated that Napoli made a recent offer of around £30 million for Kilman that was turned down by Wolves.
Although Kilman is left-footed, he's spent a fair bit of time playing on the right side of central defence for Wolves. Over his career, he's also taken up the left-back position in 34 matches and even played left midfield on six occasions.
Recently, the Magpies have been linked with Joachim Andersen from Crystal Palace, Oumar Solet from RB Salzburg, and Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice. Kilman is the latest name in the frame.
Jacobs shared this information during his appearance on the Loaded Mag Youtube channel. Here are his quotes in full:
“To throw a new name in the mix, Max Kilman is one to watch in terms of a centre-back option and Newcastle have explored the terms of that deal.
He’s a ball playing defender. He didn’t have the best season for Wolves last year, but the season before that he was outstanding.
Kilman has already been the subject of an approach from Napoli, I think for around £30 million and it was rejected.
There’s also been a little bit of interest historically from Tottenham, but Ange Postecoglou is a bit worried about his pace. There’s been a little look at him by Liverpool, but last season may have put them off. West Ham had a look as well, but they’ve obviously moved for Harry Maguire.
That is the type of name that could move late in the window and might be attracted to a project like Newcastle, even only as a depth player, as he’d get Champions League and would probably receive a wage increase as well.”
If you haven't seen much of Kilman, here's his 2023 highlight reel:
