'Asking for trouble': Chris Sutton believes Newcastle United will have a plan against Chelsea as he predicts Sunday's score

Newcastle United and Chelsea clash at St James' Park on Sunday with a bizarre midday kick-off live on TNT Sports.

Both sides are gunning for a spot in next year's Champions League, and to make matters more interesting, both sides go into this game on the same points and same goal difference.

Chelsea come to St James' Park on the back of a three-game winning streak, while Newcastle could only manage a draw last time out at Brighton.

Confidence and momentum are probably with Chelsea, but home advantage is with Newcastle, setting this one up perfectly.

Chris Sutton is backing Newcastle to have too much for Chelsea

Former Blackburn and Celtic forward Chris Sutton has written his prediction for the BBC in which he has revealed what Newcastle need to do to put Chelsea on the back foot.

"It's great to see two teams going head-to-head in this race for the top five and Chelsea probably come into it in better form after getting a great result against Liverpool on Sunday.

"We know Maresca is a stickler for playing out from the back, but doing that against Newcastle is asking for trouble. The Magpies will put them under serious pressure, because that's what they do to teams at St James' Park.

"Newcastle have got a very physical midfield which might be where the battle is won and lost, and of course Alexander Isak is such a threat too.

"Chelsea have got match-winners too, if Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke are firing, and my first thought was that there will be lots of goals in this game.

"With what's at stake, though, it might be a little cagier than that. I think the BBC readers will go for a draw but I am going to stick my neck out and say Newcastle will edge it.

Sutton's prediction that the game could be cagey is one that we share, but at the same time, Eddie Howe and Enzo Maresca aren't known for their safe football style.

If Newcastle take an early lead, Chelsea will start to chase the game and that could leave them vulnerable for Newcastle to grab a hatful.

I honestly have no idea which way this one is going to go. I have hope, I have confidence to a point, but I'm not sure I have confidence in my confidence.
