Sean Longstaff took over the role of the third person in the chair on the recent This Is Football podcast alongside Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker.

In the absence of Micah Richards, Newcastle United's very own Sean Longstaff filled in on The Rest Is Football podcast.

Longstaff came across really well on the show and shared a few good insights as well as a couple of amusing stories including one about his brother, Matty.

Matty recently moved across the Atlantic to play in the MLS for Toronto FC so Lineker asked Sean how he was getting on out there.

Sean Longstaff says that Matty has yet to meet his son

Sean mentioned how it's crazy that one minute he was sick of seeing him and now he misses having him around, and that Matty hasn't yet met his new nephew due to living in Canada.

Lineker then pointed out the calibre of players that Matty will come up against in the MLS, namely Lionel Messi, which set Sean off with a brilliant story from the other week.

Matty wanted to swap shirts with Messi after the two played against each other but somebody beat him to it. However Messi kindly offered to get him another one but Matty refused saying that he needed to stay out on the pitch as it was the last game of the season.

Matty Longstaff refused Lionel Messi's shirt much to Sean's disgust

Sean couldn't believe it.

"I rang him after the game and he said 'I was going to get his shirt and one of the other lads got it and Messi said just come inside and I'll get you another top' and Matty was like 'It's the last game of the season so I have to stay out on the pitch'.

"I said "Are you stupid?" I wanted to punch him through the phone."

Lineker and Shearer couldn't believe what they were hearing and you could tell that Sean was still in shock about it himself.
