Newcastle United's Anthony Gordon has been described as an 'electric' winger thanks to his blistering pace and acceleration.

The former Everton man has previously been clocked as one of the Premier League's fastest players, although this season he's not even Newcastle's fastest player so far this season.

That honour belongs to Harvey Barnes according to the BBC, with Barnes clocking in at a top speed of 34.7kph which isn't too shabby, but some way off Tottenham's Micky van de Ven who has been clocked at 37.1kph.

In terms of most sprints completed though, Anthony Gordon holds the top spot in the Premier League so far with 187, that's 30 ahead of second place Nicolas Jackson.

Gordon may sprint the most but he also walks the most too

Sprinting so many times in a game must be tiring because Gordon also tops the charts at Newcastle for the most distance covered while walking (25.2 km) which is three kilometers behind the Premier League's resident hiker, Erling Haaland.

Bruno Guimaraes features in the BBC's stats too, as he occupies second place in the ranks of most ground covered so far this season (77.8km) behind Southampton's Flynn Downes who has covered 82.4km.

We're not surprised to see Bruno near the top of those charts as he never seems to stop and is always there to help out in defence and attack.

Can Anthony Gordon hit a higher top speed than Harvey Barnes on Saturday?

We wonder if Anthony Gordon has seen this and will look to correct the top speed stat on Saturday be out pacing Harvey Barnes.

It's perfectly acceptable for Gordon to cover as much ground as he does at a walking pace given how quickly he turns the afterburners on when needed, but we'd expect him to be topping the top speed list too, at least at the club.

Interestingly, Brighton's fastest player so far this season is Yankuba Minteh who clocked in at 35.4kph, so our opponents on Saturday's quickest player is the one we begrudgingly sold them in the summer. You know what to do, Anthony!
