Gareth Southgate will hand Anthony Gordon his senior debut for the Three Lions as England take on Brazil tonight.

After being overlooked for so much of the season despite his red-hot form, Anthony Gordon finally got the nod from Gareth Southgate to join up with the squad for this week's round of friendlies - the last before the summer's European Championships get underway.

Gordon will start tonight and will find himself up against a familiar face in the opposing side with Bruno Guimaraes also in line to start for Brazil.

That makes tonight's friendly an interesting watch for Newcastle fans who otherwise might have given the game a miss.

Gordon must now convince Southgate to take him to Germany in the summer

This will be Gordon's first chance to show Southgate what he can bring to England in a bid to get the manager to consider him for his Euro 2024 squad.

Nobody has worked harder at Newcastle this season than Gordon and he has fully deserved his call-up.

Imagine if he went on to help the senior side win Euro 2024 a year after guiding the Under 21s to glory. What a story that would be.

Please, no injuries!

On the flip side, with these just being friendlies, Newcastle fans watching tonight will also be filled with a nervous energy hoping both Gordon and Bruno come out of the game unscathed.

A goal from Gordon and then take him off before any damage is done would be the ideal scenario.

The game kicks off at 7pm and can be seen live on Channel 4.
