Anthony Gordon appeared on Sky One's A League Of Their Own on Thursday night, and the Newcastle United winger shared a shocking truth about his family that Liverpool fans will definitely love.
Newcastle signed Anthony Gordon from Everton for around £45 million, but in the summer, there were strong links that Liverpool were sniffing around and proposing an £80 million deal to bring him back to Merseyside.
It felt touch-and-go for a while, with Gordon being a lifelong Liverpool fan, but Newcastle wouldn't entertain the idea of letting one of their star players leave.
Appearing on the sports panel show hosted by Romesh Ranganathan, Gordon was asked by Jamie Redknapp why, if all of his family were Liverpool fans, he did not play for them.
Gordon explained that he had joined Liverpool, but they released him and he ended up at Everton, to which he was asked by Maisie Adam how his family felt about it.
"As long as we lost, they were alright. They were like, 'If you score, great, but we still want you to lose, still. ' But my family are really, really bitter Liverpool fans"
Liverpool fans have already interpreted that as him saying he'll play for Liverpool one day. Not sure how they've managed to get that conclusion, but okay.
We wonder how his family all feel about him playing for Newcastle? Are we allowed to win in their eyes?
I mean, they're Liverpool fans, so probably not, but surely they don't hate us as much as Everton.
Besides, Anthony Gordon is a Geordie now. We've adopted him.
