Newcastle United's first signing of the summer, Anthony Elanga, has been on duty with Sweden this week, and while he played no part in their 2-0 defeat to Switzerland on Friday, he was involved as Sweden fell to another defeat to Kosovo last night.

Kosovo had already beaten Sweden 2-0 in Pristina, but last night they piled on the misery, beating Sweden 1-0 in Gothenburg.

Anthony Elanga was a substitute again for the game last night, despite Swedish pundits questioning why he wasn't involved against Switzerland.

After his outburst at full-time, though, we'd not be shocked if Elanga is dropped entirely next time out, should Jon Dahl Tomasson still be in charge.

Another blank for the brat

Anthony Elanga openly criticised the way Sweden play

Elanga criticised the 3-5-2 formation in an explosive rant in the tunnel at full-time, which was overheard by Fotbollskanalen.

“This system has to go.

“When you are on the field as a football player, it can look different. We on the field have to take responsibility and unfortunately it didn’t work today.”

Sweden really are in a mess right now

It's obviously more fun for us to point and laugh at Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres failing to score again, but it now sounds as though the players are turning on former Newcastle striker Jon Dahl Tomasson.

We can't imagine he's got much time left in the job, given his performance since taking over.

One of our NUFC Feed brethren lives in Sweden, and he shared these quotes from a Swedish journalist at full-time last night. Enjoy:

"Isak, Liverpool. Gyökeres, Arsenal. We might as well have had two strikers from Lindhult and Åryd up front. They would’ve been more useful — fought for a few balls, given that little extra.

"Isak takes a shot eight meters off, deflected off an opponent — but play had already been stopped because the ball was out over the goal line. That’s the Sweden we’re dealing with right now. That’s the best Sweden has created in fifteen minutes. A shot off target when the ball was already out of play. Incredible."
