Anthony Elanga starts for Newcastle United Eddie Howe picks a strong starting XI to face Union Saint-Gilloise
Eddie Howe has named his starting XI for Newcastle United to take on Union Saint-Gilloise in match week two of the Champions League in Brussels. Kick-off is at 5:45pm and the game is live on TNT Sports.
The Newcastle boss has gone with the lineup we predicted, with Kieran Trippier replacing the injured Tino Livramento and Anthony Elanga coming in for Jacob Murphy.
It seems like Howe prefers Elanga in the Champions League over Murphy, whether it's purely how the chips are falling when it comes to rotation or whether it's all about Elanga's devastating pace, we don't know.
Nick Woltemade starts up front for the Magpies, which means Anthony Gordon is out on the left flank where he belongs.
Dan Burn gets the nod ahead of Lewis Hall
Dan Burn starts on the left side of the back four again after doing a good job against Arsenal on Sunday.
It's mad to think that it wasn't too long ago that we'd have had a screaming hissy fit at the idea of Burn playing left-back, but now we almost welcome it.
Lewis Hall is on the bench, though, should Burn lose control of the game.
Fabian Schar makes the bench for Newcastle
Also on the bench is Fabian Schar, who has been given the green light to return following his concussion in the last Champions League outing.
It's a strong team from Howe and one that we would normally expect to walk through the challenge of a Champions League newcomer, but with their unbeaten start to the season and having beaten PSV already in the Champions League, we're not getting carried away.
HOWAY THE LADS!!
