Anthony Elanga has spoken about playing alongside 'amazing' Alexander Isak a week after joining Newcastle United
Anthony Elanga arrived at Newcastle United last week for £55 million and is now out in Austria training with his new teammates.
Not everyone in the Newcastle squad was a stranger to the Sweden international, though, with Emil Krafth and Alexander Isak both hailing from and representing Sweden's national team, and of course, there's his good friend Will Osula.
Elanga has come in at a time when speculation regarding the future of Alexander Isak is rife with talks of a move to Liverpool, only now starting to die down as the Reds close in on a deal for Hugo Ekitike.
But it seems that Elanga isn't paying much attention to the rumours and is simply enjoying life with his fellow countryman.
Anthony Elanga feels like he's been at Newcastle for years already
Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie has posted some quotes on his X account where Elanga has opened up about his first week with the club.
🇸🇪 Anthony Elanga on Alexander Isak and his #NUFC future:
🗣️ “You look at this team, I could go through them all. I’ve been here for a week and feel like it’s been forever.
“A player like Alex, he is one of the best strikers in the world and we all (the squad) want to play with him (next season).
“I have played with him at international level so I can say that he’s top.
“There is always going to be rumours (about him leaving), but training with him and playing at international level with him has been amazing.”
We will hopefully see Anthony Elanga and Alexander Isak team up on Saturday
The two have yet to share the pitch as clubmates, but we're hoping that will change on Saturday at Celtic Park when Newcastle take on the Scottish Premier League champions in a pre-season friendly.
The dream scenario is seeing Anthony Elanga provide an assist for an Alexander Isak goal in the opening minutes, but honestly, we'll just settle for seeing Elanga in action.
Newcastle United will stream the friendly via their website for a fee. For more details, follow this link.
