Newcastle United skipper Jamaal Lascelles bagged himself a goal in the 4-1 win against Chelsea on Saturday.
It was a great performance from the 30-year-old for the most part, and his goal elevated his rating to the point he was picked in Garth Crook's Team of the Week.
There was a point in the second half, however, when Newcastle fans were a bit concerned as Lascelles looked to be struggling, and the last thing Newcastle need right now is another injury.
Thankfully, it turned out to be nothing and due to the comfortable nature of the game, Lascelles was able to be subbed off to ensure he was ok.
Speaking to BBC's Total Sport after the game, presumably next to one of the diesel generator-powered burger vans outside the ground, Jamaal Lascelles revealed the real reason why he looked to be struggling, and we swear, these quotes are real.
“It meant a lot because I wasn’t having the best of games, struggling a bit with my boots and my foot. But I was pleased to score and I do think it was the turning point in the momentum.
“I’m fine. My studs snapped so I had to change boots and I had not worn them before so I had a size nine on one foot and a size 11 on the other, so my feet were all over the gaff!”
The worst thing is, Lascelles is a size 10! (He's not really, but could you imagine?).
We hope he meant it just felt like he had two different sized boots on because if he was literally wearing two different boot sizes then we just don't know what to say. I know FFP is crushing us, but surely a pair of boots for the skipper isn't going to land us a 10-point deduction.
I can't sake the image of Lascelles running round in a circle on the spot now because one boot is getting better traction. I love this story.
