Alexander Isak rumours intensify as Sweden star trains away from Newcastle United group ahead of Singapore trip
Every minute detail of what Alexander Isak and Newcastle United say and do is under scrutiny right now, with media outlets determined to spin anything into a story.
Alexander Isak missed the game against Celtic on Saturday, with Eddie Howe managing his minutes ahead of the new campaign. The gaffer also took the decision to send Isak home rather than having him watch on at Celtic Park with all eyes on him and the expectation that hungry journalists would be looking for quotes regarding his future.
It was a good call by Eddie Howe, but one that only served to stoke the fires. There was no right way to handle things, though, so it was probably for the best that he shielded Isak from the pressure.
Meanwhile, Isak has been spotted back in training this week, albeit training separately from the group, which has only served to give the media more to speculate on.
Alexander Isak is reportedly injured
The official reason, according to NewcastleWorld, is that Isak felt some discomfort in his thigh, so he was being monitored. He's had a scan and everything came back okay, but the club aren't willing to take any risks.
Isak is expected to fly out with the squad to Singapore and South Korea as the club embarks on their next pre-season adventures. All eyes will be on that plane to see whether or not Isak boards.
We're sure that even if he does fly out with the squad, the media will still find some detail to use as a story claiming he's unhappy. If he doesn't, then the cover story is already in place with this alleged injury. It is so hard to know what's real and what isn't, which is why it's probably best to just ignore all the talk until we hear something definitive from the club or Isak himself.
We won't know what's going on until it's resolved
The truth of the matter is, until he's sold or the transfer window closes, we'll not fully know what's happening. We can't imagine that any party is going to give us much to go on in the coming weeks.
We imagine that Eddie Howe will continue to shield Isak from the media as much as possible, so we're not expecting any interviews with the striker during pre-season, unless he signs a new deal at the club, and then we'll get some clarity, obviously.
Don't you just love the summer?
