Alexander Isak's cheeky chipped finish in the 5-1 demolition of Aston Villa on the opening weekend has been nominated for the Premier League's August Goal of the Month award.

If you need a reminder of the Swede's effort, here it is courtesy of Newcastle United's official X account:

Isak is up against stiff competition, however, with seven other efforts from the likes of Bukayo Saka of Arsenal, Luis Díaz of Liverpool, and Raheem Sterling of Chelsea also shortlisted.

Gustavo Hamer of Sheffield United, Jarrod Bowen of West Ham, Kaoru Mitoma of Brighton, and Kevin Schade of Brentford make up the rest of the field. You can view all of the nominations and vote (for Isak, of course) on the Premier League website.

We'd be surprised if Isak gets the nod given the sheer quality of the other strikes on display, but with Toon Polls on his side, anything is possible.

Unsurprisingly, the club doesn't have an entry in either the Manager of the Month or Player of the Month category, having taken just three points from the first nine available.

We're still not over the last couple of games, and we're guessing you might not be either, so here's a reminder of all five goals from the opening weekend courtesy of the Sky Sports Premier League YouTube channel:
