Former Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer wasted no time in making his feelings known after the Magpies fell to a heavy defeat to Fulham.
Fulham ended Newcastle's reign of terror at Craven Cottage in convincing style coming out 3-1 winners on Saturday afternoon.
In truth it could have been a lot more as the Cottagers spurned a few big chances.
Although it was Newcastle's Fabian Schar who squandered the biggest chance of the game firing wide from six yards. He could have scored himself or squared it to Alexander Isak if he'd just taken a second to think, but he panicked and spooned the ball wide keeping the score at 2-1. Had that chance gone in, you'd have bet your house on Newcastle going on to win.
Had that happened, mind, it would have been very unfair on Fulham who were by far the better team in the first half, and while Newcastle had a lot more of the ball in the second half, Fulham defended brilliantly.
Fulham's third goal was a gift by Bruno Guimaraes, passing the ball to Reiss Nelson to fire home, but again, it was no more than they deserved overall.
The performance overall by the Magpies was so poor that Alan Shearer practically had his post-match verdict up on X before the ref had even blown the third whistle for full-time.
Shearer called the performance 'awful' which was actually pretty tame. We're sure he'll be a bit less PC in his analysis for The Rest Is Football podcast, though.
"That was awful from Newcastle. Got what they deserved. Fulham much much better. #FULNEW"
We absolutely did get what we deserved. In fairness, it's a result we've deserved in every game this season, but we've had some luck on our side until now.
