Alan Shearer finds space in Premier League Team of the Week for two Newcastle United stars including 'rock'

Newcastle United kept their Champions League dream very much alive by beating fellow chasers Chelsea 2-0 at St James' Park on Sunday.

It wasn't a pretty game to watch with Newcastle struggling to press their advantage following Nicolas Jackson's first-half red card, but a goal right at the start and another right at the end of the game were enough to see off the challenge from Enzo Maresca's men.

While it was far from a classic Newcastle United performance, there were a couple of players who stood out for the Magpies, with Dan Burn picking up the Player of the Match honour from TNT Sports, who covered the game.

Sandro Tonali got the Magpies off to a flying start with a goal after two minutes, but the Italian never let his standards drop for the entire game.

While Burn missed out on a spot in Troy Deeney's Team of the Week, Alan Shearer was clearly paying closer attention with the centre-back making it into his Premier League TotW along with Sandro Tonali.

Dan Burn is looking more and more like a shoo-in for Newcastle United's Player of the Season. Lewis Hall was giving him a good run for his money before he picked up his season-ending injury.

Sandro Tonali's start to the season wasn't as impressive, but the second half of his season, along with that of Jacob Murphy's, put them in the mix. Alexander Isak also has to be in with a shout thanks to his impressive goal tally, but he, too, has dropped off at the tail end of the season.

But with Dan Burn being outstanding all season and scoring a goal in the Carabao Cup final, it's almost inevitably going to be the lad from Blyth.
