Miguel Almiron could be considered part of the furniture at Newcastle United since joining in 2019.
Now it looks like he could be staying at the club for a while longer as he aims to return to the first-team on a more consistent basis.
The Paraguayan international has made just five appearances in the Premier League for the Magpies this season after a lacklustre 2023/24 season where he scored three goals in 33 league games.
Toon boss Eddie Howe has resorted to playing the likes of Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes as right wingers despite being more proficient on the left.
But Almiron looks set to remain at the club for longer following a shock revelation from his agent.
The 30-year-old's agent recently spoke to Soy del Millo where he revealed that Almiron still has two-and-a-half years left on his contract, a year longer than initially thought.
Almiron's agent, Daniel Campos said: “So, it looks like he has another two and a half years left on his contract with Newcastle United and that, unless some other club makes a significant offer, with commensurate wages, he will stay on Tyneside for a while yet,”
In the last year, Almiron has looked set for moves to the Saudi Pro League and Charlotte FC in the MLS but the moves fell through due to differing reasons.
“Although Miguel isn’t happy with the minutes he has in England, he wants to stay and fight at Newcastle,” Campos added.
“Eddie Howe always supported him. When he asked for something, he asked him to not leave. It must be a tactical or momentary issue."
Miggy isn't desperate to leave the Magpies anytime soon due to the length of his contract. Despite that, don't be surprised if an offer comes in for him in January.
Newcastle need to sell to adhere to the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability rules so a player like Almiron could be one of the ideal players to go for the right fee.
Campos added: “We had arranged a contract with them, but the club rejected the proposal from the United States. He has a valid contract. His contract was renewed last year for three more (years) and with the new owners of the club.
“Miguel is not desperate for money or to do crazy things. If there is an offer from any team, we will go through the competent channels."
