'A little bit more': Jermain Defoe says how he feels Nick Woltemade is better than Peter Crouch

Newcastle United striker Nick Woltemade has been likened to Peter Crouch on several occasions since his arrival from VfB Stuttgart in the summer.

Indeed, it's a comparison that has followed the German around for years, with his old teammates nicknaming him 'Crouchy' due to his lanky frame.

Just like Crouch, who is just one inch taller than Woltemade, the 23-year-old is surprisingly better with his feet than he is in the air, which has only strengthened the comparisons.

While both are more than capable of finding the net with their head, it's how they manipulate the ball with their feet that truly shocks people.

The phrase 'good feet for a big man' was tailor-made for the pair, but former Sunderland striker Jermain Defoe, who played alongside Crouch, feels Woltemade edges his former teammate in terms of quality, telling Premier League Productions he's more dynamic than the former England star.

“He is a little bit more dynamic in terms of his movement to Crouchy.

“But what they both have, they’ve got soft feet. That’s soft feet as in like they use the pace on the ball and just try to make contact and then hopefully you know you can direct it into the corner.”

If Woltemade can score as regularly as Peter Crouch did in his career, we'll be happy enough with that.

To be fair, the way he's started, there's nothing to say that he can't do that or even go further than Crouch did.
