Newcastle are desperate for an out-and-out right winger this summer, especially with Miguel Almiron's future seemingly away from the club.

While Anthony Gordon can play out on the right which leaves room for Harvey Barnes on the left, it also feels a bit counter-productive moving Gordon away from the position in which he's done so well this season.

Regardless, if Miguel Almiron is to be sold this summer, which is increasingly likely, then Eddie Howe will want another right-sided forward anyway and one he's had his eye on for a while is Barcelona's Raphinha.

The former Leeds United winger's name kept popping up next to Newcastle's leading up to the January transfer window, and indeed the summer, as he struggled to get settled in La Liga.

Raphinha's Barcelona dream hasn't quite panned out how he'd have hoped

Following his heroics at Leeds, almost single-handedly keeping them in the Premier League, the Brazilian was rewarded with his dream move to Barcelona for £55million.

However, almost two years on and that dream has never really looked like a reality. He's struggled for minutes, and initially struggled for form, although he has had his moments. Last night certainly being one of them.

Against PSG in the Champions League, the 27-year-old bagged himself two goals before being substituted. It was a performance that got Newcastle fans purring and hoping that the club's interest is resurrected.

Surely it has to be worth a cheeky bid

Barcelona's financial situation is still shaky, at best, so they may need to seriously consider any offers they receive this summer.

Additionally, youngster Lamine Yamal is staking a strong claim to making right-wing his own which puts Raphinha's position under threat.

If Newcastle fancied their chances they could probably pick up the Brazilian for a decent fee this summer, and there's no doubt that it will go down well amongst the Toon Army.
