19-year-old deadline day Newcastle United target agrees £21.5m switch ahead of summer move
Newcastle United made a last-ditch effort on transfer deadline day to land Stade Reims midfielder Patrick Zabi.
The 19-year-old is being hailed as the next Paul Pogba after impressing for Ligue 2 side Reims.
Newcastle were thought to be looking to buy the youngster in January and loan him back to Reims for the remainder of the season to help with their promotion push.
The Magpies ultimately missed out on Zabi on deadline day, but reports continued that they would push to strike a deal for the move to be completed in the summer.
Newcastle look set to miss out on Patrick Zabi
A report from French outlet, L'Equipe has now claimed that Zabi will be on the move in the summer, but won't be heading to Newcastle United.
Instead, they claim that Patrick Zabi has agreed a £21.5 million switch to Ligue 1 side Paris FC ahead of the summer.
Not even Paris Saint-Germain, by the way, but Paris FC.
Is it too early for a summer meltdown?
It's hardly an inspiring start to the summer transfer window, is it?
Obviously, it's far too early to get upset about summer business, and it's only one player who is untested at the highest level, so we can't get too wound up about it.
Still, can we just have some good news, please?
