Newcastle United may not be able to bring any players in after the UK transfer window closed on Friday, but outgoings are still possible as a couple of markets remain open.

The main one that affects Newcastle is the Turkish transfer market with a host of clubs in the Super Lig eyeing a move for unsettled right back Kieran Trippier.

Eddie Howe's first signing as Newcastle boss arrived from Atletico Madrid for £12 million while the Magpies were hot favourites for relegation. It was seen as a real statement of intent by the new owners and it was a move that ultimately paid dividends.

Trippier would go on to become a huge part of Newcastle's early success under Eddie Howe and has firmly placed himself as a hero at the club.

Four Turkish clubs are now chasing Kieran Trippier

However, going into this season things haven't been all rosy for Trippier. Off-field problems have dominated the headlines and they certainly looked to be taking their toll when we saw shots of Trippier on the bench with his head buried in his hands in the game against Bournemouth which looked like a lot more than just shielding himself from the horrendous performance in front of him.

Tripps has also fallen down the pecking order at Newcastle while also retiring from international duty. His career is on the wind-down and he knows his chances could be limited if he stays at Newcastle.

Three clubs in Turkey have been credited with an interest in Trippier with a fourth mentioned by Sport Witness this morning, but a post on X by Turkish journalist Sercan Dikme this afternoon has suggested that Besiktas are the frontrunners.

It seems like a coin toss as to whether Trippier stays or goes

The post claims that Besiktas are about to be very busy with players waiting to hear back from them and names Kieran Trippier as one of them.

"The busy hours have begun. There may be some people leaving or coming in Beşiktaş. There are football players waiting for news from Beşiktaş.

One of them is Kieran Trippier…

There are also candidates for a wing forward. If the players who will leave are determined, he can share that as well."

The Turkish transfer window closes on the 18th so there's still plenty of time for Trippier to make up his mind whether to make the move or not. At this point it feels like it's 50/50 chance he goes.
