Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has provided fitness updates on Bruno Guimaraes and Joe Willock

The Magpies haven't had the best luck with fitness over the last year with several crucial players out of action for extended periods of time.

Defenders Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles have been missing since March with ACL injuries, Callum Wilson and Kieran Trippier have only just returned from their problems and Emil Krafth will miss a period of time with a broken collarbone.

The injuries don't leave Newcastle scratching their heads wondering who they can play but Toon boss Eddie Howe has some thinking to do.

Howe has now provided updates on two important first team players after injury worries on Monday.

Eddie Howe to make a decision on Bruno Guimaraes and Joe Willock today

The Newcastle manager, 47 today faced the press ahead of Saturday's clash against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

He was asked for updates on Bruno Guimaraes and Joe Willock who were both forced off during the Magpies 2-0 defeat to West Ham on Monday.

Howe confirmed that both players "have a chance" of playing against Palace on Saturday confirming that neither are serious injuries and he "will make a decision today"

Willock reportedly lost feeling in his leg on Monday while it was a muscle problem for Guimaraes.

Callum Wilson given the all clear after West Ham return

Callum Wilson officially returned from injury on Monday playing a large chunk of the second half in the defeat to West Ham.

Although he didn't find himself on the scoresheet it was a good runout for the 32-year-old following a tough spell on the side lines.

Howe was asked about Wilson following his return to which he confirmed that he was "fine". So Toon fans should expect to see Wilson in squad for the trip to Palace.

Howe also said that Lewis Miley is set to play for the under-21s this evening as he fights for fitness.
