We almost missed the best story of the weekend regarding Newcastle United and Anthony Gordon.

It's late on Sunday evening and the best bullshido story relating to Newcastle actually came out on Saturday and almost completely passed us by, but we caught it and now we're going to have a laugh about it.

Unsurprisingly it comes from Football Insider, the ultimate pedallers of bullshido and naturally, they've framed it as an exclusive because it's their 'sources' telling them this information, all with the absence of any direct quotes. Of course.

The story concerns Anthony Gordon and this long-rumoured move to Liverpool.

Anthony Gordon is a target for Liverpool

There is still every chance Anthony Gordon goes to Liverpool this summer

Is there a chance that Gordon moves to Liverpool this summer? Of course there is. Liverpool want him, he grew up supporting Liverpool. If Newcastle can make a hefty profit on the sale, then they're likely to consider it, it is a business after all.

We'd be absolutely devastated to see him go after how brilliant he was last season and how integral he is to the side now.

Newcastle are planning on sitting down with Gordon when he returns to training next week and are potentially set to offer him a new contract on improved terms in a bid to keep him at the club.

Anthony Gordon will go on strike to force a move

However, Football Insider reckon that Gordon is going to essentially go on strike to force through the move to Liverpool.

Just because of how he engineered his Everton exit, then of course, he'd do it again, because that wouldn't shatter his reputation at all, would it?

At the end of the day, we highly doubt Newcastle would stand in his way if he came in and said he wanted to go. As long as they got what they believe he's worth, then there'd be absolutely no need for him to down tools.

Fingers crossed he comes in all happy and smiley and puts pen to paper on his new deal and sticks around at Newcastle, but if not, £100 million in the bank is nowt to be sniffed at - as long as we spend it on a replacement, even if we have to wait until January. Harvey Barnes can do a job until then.
