Brentford provide Newcastle United's first Premier League test after tasting cup success for the first time in 56 years.

In the non-televised Premier League match tonight (Wednesday 2nd April), the Bees will be hoping that the Magpies have a Carabao Cup hangover heading into the fixture.

Newcastle are on the hunt for Champions League football and with just 10 games to go for Eddie Howe's men, the competition for fourth and fifth spot is heating up.

Brentford boss Thomas Frank is expecting Newcastle to fly out of the blocks at St James' Park tonight when the game kicks off at 7:45pm.

Thomas Frank says Newcastle deserved their party at the weekend

When speaking to the media (via The Northern Echo), Thomas Frank was aware of the dangers that Newcastle pose but also took the time to be complimentary of his next opponents and their recent achievements.

“I’m pretty sure they will come flying out under the floodlights for a celebration," he said.

"They will be trying everything they can to hunt down that Champions League spot.

“I hope they had an unbelievable party because they deserved it.

“It’s their first major cup in almost a lifetime. It’s an incredible achievement for them and I’m really happy on their behalf."

We still owe Brentford a hiding in the Premier League despite already getting revenge for their win at the G-Tech Community Stadium

While we really like Thomas Frank and appreciate his kind words, we still hope that we can give Brentford a battering tonight. We owe them one after the reverse fixture earlier this season in which Brentford triumphed 4-2.

We've already beaten them at home once, just a few days after that defeat in fact, but that was in the League Cup. We still owe them for the Premier League.

We don't have long to wait to find out which way Saturday's celebrations have taken their toll on our players - did it wipe them out or spur them on? We find out tonight.
